Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
If getting dressed, brushing teeth, or tying shoes turns into a daily struggle, you’re not alone. Many parents in Keller and Grapevine share the same worries: “Will my child ever be able to do this on their own?” That’s where we come in.
We believe independence doesn’t mean doing everything perfectly; it means helping your child feel capable and proud of their progress. Schedule an evaluation today to start your child’s journey toward confidence and everyday success.

What Are Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)?
Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) are the everyday self-care skills children use to take care of themselves — things like dressing, feeding, toileting, grooming, and organizing personal items. These tasks form the foundation for independence at home, school, and in the community.
At our Keller and Grapevine clinics, we focus on helping children strengthen coordination, motor planning, and attention while building real-life skills. When children succeed in ADL tasks, they don’t just grow in skill — they grow in confidence, self-esteem, and readiness for school and social participation.

Who It Helps
Every child learns at a different pace, but when daily routines start to feel overwhelming or frustrating, occupational therapy can help. ADL skill-building is especially beneficial for:
Parents often tell us, “We just want mornings to go smoother.” That’s exactly what we work toward — helping your child (and your household) start and end each day with a little less stress and a lot more confidence.
Remember, independence grows in stages. With gentle coaching and consistency, your child can develop the skills they need to thrive.

How It Works at Allison’s Therapy Corner
Our ADL sessions are hands-on and filled with opportunities to practice real-life routines. Therapy never feels like work — it feels like progress.
Practice self-care routines such as dressing, handwashing, or meal prep
Build fine-motor strength through playful activities like using tongs, zipping, or folding clothes
Follow visual schedules or step-by-step checklists to build executive-function skills
Occupational Therapy
Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) are a core part of occupational therapy because they help children build the everyday skills they need to take care of themselves with confidence. Many of the same motor, sensory, and coordination skills used in play are also needed for dressing, feeding, brushing teeth, toileting, and keeping organized.
Our OTs help children strengthen these skills through hands-on practice, visual supports, and simple routines that feel achievable. As children gain independence, daily life becomes calmer, smoother, and more predictable.
Families often notice less frustration during morning and bedtime routines and more pride as their child learns to do things “all by myself.”

What to Expect
We understand that trying something new can feel uncertain, so we make the process as comfortable and transparent as possible.
- 1
Free Consultation
We’ll start with a quick phone or in-person chat to learn about your child and your family’s goals. You can ask questions, share your concerns, and see if our therapists feel like the right fit.
- 2
Initial Evaluation
Your child meets with a licensed occupational therapist for a hands-on assessment. We look at fine and gross motor skills, sensory responses, visual coordination, and daily living skills. Parents are part of the process — your insight helps us understand what matters most at home and school.
- 3
Personalized Therapy Plan
After the evaluation, we’ll create a custom plan with clear, measurable goals. Every program is tailored to your child’s age, abilities, and personality — whether that means improving grip strength, building attention, or developing independence in self-care routines.
- 4
Insurance & Scheduling
We’ll verify your insurance benefits, explain coverage, and help set a schedule that works for your family. Before services begin, you’ll receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) outlining your benefits and expected costs. Our team takes care of the paperwork so you can focus on your child’s progress, not logistics.
- 5
Ongoing Therapy
Sessions are 30–60 minutes, depending on your child’s needs and attention. Therapy is hands-on and playful—climbing, drawing, swinging, and practicing everyday skills to build confidence and independence in a supportive environment.

Why Families Choose Us
Parents tell us they feel at ease the moment they walk in. Our clinics feel less like medical offices and more like playrooms filled with color, laughter, and care.
We treat every child like family, celebrating each step forward. Many of our therapists are parents too, so we understand the joys and challenges of each developmental stage.
Families from Fort Worth, Keller, Grapevine, and surrounding areas have trusted us for our open communication and personalized care. We’re grateful to grow alongside the children we serve — from toddlers just finding their voice to elementary kids and teens gaining confidence every day.
