What Is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational therapy helps children develop the physical, sensory, and emotional skills needed for daily life. It supports independence in self-care, play, and school tasks by improving coordination, attention, and problem-solving.
At our Keller / Fort Worth, Alliance, and Grapevine clinics, therapy often looks like play — stacking blocks, swinging, writing letters, or practicing feeding skills — with each activity thoughtfully chosen to help your child reach real-life goals.

Who It Helps
Occupational therapy supports children from infancy through adolescence who need help mastering everyday skills.
Parents often come to us when their child:
Every child’s story is different. Some kids have big emotions and need help calming their bodies when things feel too loud or bright. Others have weaker hands that can’t quite hold a crayon yet. Some are full of ideas but get stuck when it’s time to put them into action.
We often hear from parents who say, “My child is smart and creative but can’t sit still long enough to finish homework.” Occupational therapy bridges that gap — helping your child turn ability into action.
Our therapists gently guide children to master small, everyday challenges that add up to big wins: getting dressed without frustration, joining playtime with confidence, or staying focused in class.

How It Works at Allison’s Therapy Corner
Our sessions are designed to feel fun — never forced. Children learn through play, movement, and exploration. Every session is guided by a licensed occupational therapist who tailors activities to your child’s goals. A typical session may include:
Sensory play using swings, crash pads, or textured toys
Fine motor work like bead threading, puzzles, or coloring
Self-care practice for dressing or brushing teeth
Sensory integration and coordination practice through play
We also mix in obstacle courses, yoga poses, and sensory gym play to keep therapy engaging. Many of our kids climb, swing, and laugh through every session — it’s movement that feels like play.
For children who need quiet focus, we use tools like weighted lap pads, visual timers, or fidget-friendly activities that build attention while reducing stress.
Parents are encouraged to peek in and see how their child learns best — every smile, every “I did it!” moment matters.
Our clinics are bright, comfortable spaces filled with laughter and encouragement. Many families notice positive changes after only a few weeks — better focus, calmer emotions, or more independence during daily routines.

After the evaluation, we’ll create a custom plan with clear, measurable goals. Every program is tailored to your child’s age, abilities, and personality — whether that means improving grip strength, building attention, or developing independence in self-care routines.

Insurance & Scheduling
We’ll verify your insurance benefits, explain coverage, and help set a schedule that works for your family. Before services begin, you’ll receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) outlining your benefits and expected costs. Our team takes care of the paperwork so you can focus on your child’s progress, not logistics.

Ongoing Therapy
Sessions are 30–60 minutes, depending on your child’s needs and attention. Therapy is hands-on and playful—climbing, drawing, swinging, and practicing everyday skills to build confidence and independence in a supportive environment.
