Articulation
If your child knows what they want to say but can’t quite get the sounds right, we can help. At Allison’s Therapy Corner, our licensed speech therapists provide articulation therapy in Keller and Grapevine, TX, helping kids turn tricky speech sounds into clear, confident words.
Our speech-language pathologists (SLPs) make each session encouraging, and full of progress you can actually hear. Whether your child says “wabbit” for “rabbit” or struggles to be understood in class, we’ll meet them with patience and practical strategies that work.
Schedule an evaluation today to start your child’s journey toward clearer speech and stronger confidence.

What Is Articulation?
Articulation therapy is a specialized form of speech therapy that helps children learn to make sounds correctly so their speech is clear and easy to understand.
Therapists focus on how the tongue, lips, teeth, and airflow work together to form specific sounds.
For example, a child who says “tup” instead of “cup” might learn to lift their tongue differently to make the “k” sound. With guidance, repetition, and play, those little adjustments turn into lasting confidence and clearer communication.
Articulation helps your child pronounce sounds correctly and speak more clearly. At our Keller / Fort Worth and Grapevine clinics, we focus on building accurate speech patterns so your child can communicate with confidence in daily life.

Who It Helps
Sometimes parents notice speech sound errors as early as preschool. Others see it after their child starts school and classmates begin to notice differences. No matter where your child starts, progress often comes faster than you expect once therapy begins.

Common reasons families reach out include:
Articulation concerns often show up when a child has difficulty producing certain sounds clearly or is hard to understand in conversation. Families come to us for help when their child is struggling with pronunciation, sound errors, or communication confidence at home or in school.
We’ve worked with many families who’ve seen incredible changes once their child starts communicating more easily. Every milestone — every new word — is something to celebrate.

Speech Therapy
Articulation is an essential part of our speech program — because the way children produce individual sounds affects how clearly they communicate in everyday situations.
Some children have trouble coordinating the lips, tongue, or jaw to create specific sounds. Others use sound patterns that are younger than their age, or leave off sounds without realizing it.
As children learn these skills, their overall speech becomes easier to understand, and communication becomes more successful and less stressful.
Articulation therapy can help if your child:
Struggles to pronounce certain sounds (such as r, l, s, or th)
Substitutes or omits sounds in words
Has speech that is unclear to familiar and unfamiliar listeners
Uses immature sound patterns that don’t match their age
Feels frustrated when others cannot understand them
Our goal is to help your child feel understood and able to share their thoughts with confidence.

How It Works at Allison’s Therapy Corner
Every session at ATC is designed around your child’s personality and learning style. We keep therapy active and fun because that’s when kids learn best. Here’s what a typical articulation therapy session might include:
Sound Modeling
Your child learns accurate sound placement through clear, direct examples from the therapist.
Visual + Motor Cues
We use mirrors and visual prompts to help your child understand how their lips, tongue, and jaw should move.
Encouraging Support
Therapists offer consistent feedback and positive reinforcement to build confidence and steady progress.
Purposeful Skill Building
We help your child take meaningful steps toward clearer speech, stronger sound production, and more confident communication.
During articulation therapy, your child may work on precise tongue and lip movements, practice specific sound patterns, or repeat targeted words and phrases to build accuracy.
You may notice your child practicing isolated sounds, syllables, or sentences as they learn to apply clear pronunciation across different speaking situations. These structured exercises help build confidence as your child begins to use new sounds more consistently in everyday conversation.
Whether your child is working on one sound or several, we create a supportive environment where progress is celebrated and every improvement matters.

What to Expect
From your first phone call to your child’s first clear word or confident sentence, we’re here to guide you through every step. Here’s what the process looks like:
- 1
Free Consultation
We begin with a quick phone conversation to learn about your child’s communication needs and your goals as a parent. You can share any concerns, ask questions, and get a sense of whether our team is the right match for your family.
- 2
Initial Speech & Language Evaluation
Your child meets with a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for a thorough evaluation. We observe how your child communicates, listens, uses words, understands directions, and interacts during simple activities. Parents are included throughout this step — your insight helps us see the full picture and shape the plan in a meaningful way.
- 3
Individualized Treatment Plan
After the evaluation, your SLP creates a customized therapy plan with clear, achievable goals based on your child’s strengths and needs. We’ll walk you through the plan so you understand what each goal means, why it matters, and how therapy will help. Collaboration is priority — your voice and preferences guide the direction of care.
- 4
Insurance & Scheduling
We’ll verify your insurance benefits, explain what your plan covers, and help you choose a schedule that works for your family. Before services begin, you’ll receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) that clearly outlines your benefits and expected costs. Our team handles the paperwork so you can focus on your child’s communication growth—not logistics.
- 5
Ongoing Speech Therapy
Once therapy begins, your child attends one-on-one sessions with their SLP. Sessions are engaging, supportive, and tailored to your child’s interests — using books, toys, games, visuals, or movement to practice new skills. Parents receive regular updates, simple at-home strategies, and guidance to help generalize skills across environments, ensuring progress carries over into everyday routines at home, school, and in the community.
